Vision Boards: what they are, and how they can help you obtain your goals.
By: Carole Jenks

What is a vision board?
A vision board is a collage of pictures that you cut out from magazines visualizing specific goals that you have, and hope to someday obtain.

What is the point of a vision board and how can it help you? It can help you:

·         Gain clarity of specific life goals.
·         Help you stay more focused.
·         Reinforces your daily affirmations.

Use a vision board helps you gain clarity of specific life goals.
What do you want out of life? What are your goals? For example, to say that you want to be a writer is fine, but you need to get more specific then that. Instead, you could say that you want to break into the children’s magazine market by querying different magazines, submitting manuscripts to magazines, and entering writing contests. This way the more specific you are, the clearer the focus, which helps you seek images that relate to your goals.

Use a vision board to help you stay more focused.
Staying focused on what you want is the main concept of making a vision board. In this day and age staying positive is often hard to do. We are constantly bombarded with negativities which can wreck havoc on our minds both consciously and subconsciously. So what do we do? Create a vision board and place it in an area in which you can look at daily.
Use a vision board to reinforce your daily affirmations.
Vision boards can include not only images but words as well! Think of words, phrases, or sentences that affirm your goals. An example of an affirmation for someone who is a writer could be, “I am a writer, so I write.” The same goes for any intention that you have. Affirmations can silence that negative voice and can release you from those negative thoughts and beliefs.
